Fourth of July celebrations are very patriotic and represent the best of small town living. Each year TCPA participates in the Parade in Weaverville. In 2003, a TCPA presence was made with secretary George's 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible appropriately draped with American flags and billboards stating our purpose and goals. Our rider was Lt. Col. James Evans Ret. Air Force. He fit into and wore his dress uniform, a far cry from his P-51 flight suit. His ride was great timing as the Vietnam Moving Wall was on display in Weaverville and our two local Congressional Medal of Honor winners were honored that day. Jim is well known to most of you as our contributing storyteller. Jim's lovely wife Sandy and George Loegering's fiancée Julie Moore accompanied them. Weaverville Weaverville's festivities, which center around Lowden Park, include concessions, a Gold Country Musical (at Brewery Barn Theater), a Trinity Players Melodrama (at the Civil Defense Hall) and a street dance. Events lead up to the fireworks display. On July 4, events include a pancake breakfast at the park, a parade on Main Street and street dance to live music. Other activities are a rodeo and softball tournament. Hayfork Hayfork's Picnic and Fireworks celebration are held at Trinity County Fair grounds. Games, food and music lead up to a spectacular fireworks display. | ||||||||||
