Under construction.... The value of general aviation became apparent during the heavy rains of January 2002. The only access to Happy Camp for almost a week was by air. The phone and power companies flew repair crews and supplies in to begin restoring lines. The Road Department and USFS flew various roads to determine the extent of the damage. Food and medical supplies were airlifted and a number of people were flown to hospitals with medical emergencies. A great big THANK YOU to all the General Aviation pilots that are always ready and willing to help when needed. (From the Scott Valley Pilots Association newsletter, The Flypaper) Almost every week, local Trinity County pilots offer their time, service, and planes to neighbors who need efficient transportation to Redding, Sacramento, or the Bay Area for medical treatment.
