Safeguarding
Trinity County
Aviation

The Trinity County Pilots Association is a non-profit organization of diverse individuals and businesses dedicated to growth and preservation of general aviation in Trinity County.

Annual Lions BBQ and Fly-in - Sunday, August 31

The Trinity Lake Lions BBQ next to Trinity Center airport was a great success. Over 570 meals were sold at the annual fundraiser, and there were well over a dozen booths with arts and crafts and goodies. At the airport, we had over forty aircraft fly in for the day or the weekend, incluidng several campers "under the wing." With the fence going in there has been some concern about camping in the future at O86. The Trinity County Pilots Association will be working to ensure that airplane campers remain welcome. It may take a couple years, but we will push to improve the camp sites as dollars and priorities permit. Long time members John and Linda Nelson (with Cookie) returned from their home base at Columbia to spend the weekend enjoying Trinity Center. (Click on the photo for a larger image.)

Airport Work Update

  • Weaverville - perimeter fence done, gate locks being installed
  • Hayfork - perimeter fence almost done
  • Ruth - perimeter fence done
  • Hyampom - perimeter fence done
  • Trinity Center - fence project approved, out for new bid

How Airports are Funded
Just like the national highway system, much of America’s air transportation infrastructure is paid for with a simple tax on all aviation fuels.

State and Federal agencies tax this fuel to provide the funds needed. People who fly on commercial planes pay the fuel tax as part of their ticket price or fuel purchase. More...
